FAM 4192 Motivational Interviewing and Behavioral Change
This course focuses on the theory, evidence-based research, and practice of motivational interviewing (MI) as a conversational skill in medical care settings for the promotion of health behavior changes. MI is an evidence-based method for promoting change and growth via a collaborative conversation designed to strengthen a person’s own motivation and commitment to change and/or growth (Miller & Rollnick, 2023). During the month, learners will complete didactic readings, actively practice MI skills, and receive real time feedback from course instructors.
