RAD 4300 Radiation Oncology

Diagnostic imaging and imaging-guided procedures are an increasingly important and ever evolving set of tools in the management of patients across a wide spectrum of pathological conditions. This rotation is designed to provide medical students with exposure to radiation oncology, which uses biological effects of high dose ionizing radiation for therapeutic (not diagnostic) purposes. Medical students will have the opportunity to learn more about our five types of patient encounters: the initial evaluation, simulation/planning, treatment delivery, on-treatment visits, and follow-up.
