RBB 703 Pediatric Dentistry
Residents manage and treat pediatric dental patients throughout the two program years. They are exposed to and treat patients from a wide range of age, background, and ability. In the operating room, residents are encouraged to progress to being able to manage an entire case that progresses in level of difficulty, from examination to discharge. Residents receive instruction in basic biologic principles of operative, prevention, space management, growth and development, operating room procedures and protocol, local anesthesia, fluoride, pulp therapy in the primary and mixed dentition, dental trauma, behavior management, and managing special needs and medically compromised children. Residents also participate in seminar and literature review. Residents volunteer to give presentations on Pregnancy and Infant oral health monthly and during National Children’s’ Dental Health Month.
