CCCF 773 Cone Beam Computed Tomography and Oral Maxillofacial Radiology
This course is designed to familiarize the residents with CBCT related to use in dentistry and reinforce radiological principles and concepts. The training will consist of lecture and case reviews designed to familiarize participants with the basic CBCT principles for ordering, acquisition and interpretation of CBCT scans, standardized CBCT report formats and case reviews. In addition, residents are given a comprehensive review of basic CBCT interpretation of anatomic structures, pathology, indications for use in a multitude of dental disciplines, benefits, risks, interpretation, and report writing. Residents are exposed to a variety of CBCT findings with concepts for reviewing CBCT and writing a dento-alveolar interpretive report are introduced. The objectives for student learning are for the residents to attain the ability to review a CBCT region of interest in small and medium fields of view proficiently, as well as to practice effective communication with oral and maxillofacial radiologists. CBCT cases are presented with opportunity for discussion during lectures.
