NURS 8814 Critical Foundations of Nursing Theories and Philosophies
This course provides an in-depth exploration of nursing theories and philosophies, guiding students through critical analysis of foundational philosophical ideas and their impact on nursing science. Emphasizing the relationship between science and other forms of knowledge, students will engage in discussions, case studies, and debates to differentiate science from pseudoscience, evaluate theories, and examine the dynamics of scientific revolutions. The course also explores interdisciplinary theories, historical evolution of nursing knowledge, and philosophical underpinnings of nursing as a scientific discipline. By bridging theory and practice through evidence-based case studies, students will develop critical thinking, effective communication, and an understanding of nursing's theoretical frameworks and conceptual models to enhance modern practice.
