HCB 1201 Emergency Care Fundamentals and Patient Management
This course introduces military and pre-hospital healthcare providers to the essential clinical skills, operational readiness, and medical protocols required in operational, shipboard, and MTF (Military Treatment Facility) environments. Students will develop foundational proficiency in Pre-Hospital Assessment and continuous Patient Monitoring to rapidly triage casualties, manage trauma, and track vital signs under austere conditions. The curriculum emphasizes immediate battlefield interventions through Basic Life Support (BLS) alongside the mechanics of tactical Patient Movement, litter carries, and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) operations. Additionally, students will enforce strict Infection Control and field sanitation standards to mitigate disease and non-battle injuries (DNBI), while mastering Patient Records and Communication to ensure accurate DD Form 1380 (TCCC Card) documentation and seamless handoffs to higher echelons of care.
