NURS 6330 DNP Practicum for CNS Practice V: Capstone Immersion for CNS Practice
In this advanced clinical capstone course, students synthesize and operationalize competencies across all domains of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role through structured role immersion, systems engagement, and professional transition activities. Building upon prior practicum experiences, students refine executive communication, interprofessional leadership, and organizational consultation skills necessary to function as entry-level advanced practice CNSs within the Military Health System (MHS). Students engage in focused preparation for national AGCNS board certification through structured review, practice examinations, and faculty-guided competency validation activities. In parallel, students precept with practicing CNSs across diverse MHS settings and collaborate with specialty consultants, gaining exposure to real-time system challenges, accreditation processes, readiness initiatives, and specialty-specific operational demands. Emphasis is placed on responding to specialty needs from a systems perspective, supporting quality and safety initiatives, participating in accreditation and consultative activities, and strengthening competencies that advance the MHS Strategy.
