PSY 4530 Operational Psychiatry

Clinical Hands-On/Direct

 

The four-week elective provides medical students a distinctive chance to acquire hands-on experience in military operational psychiatry. This course is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills to implement operational/organizational psychiatry principles. Students will learn how to ensure mission readiness, promote psychological resilience, and maintain unit health within military operations. Throughout the elective, students will be involved in some direct patient care, participate in and observe operational activities, and develop a comprehensive understanding of the unique mental health needs of military personnel assigned to the unit. Students will gain experience in the clinical, administrative, and leadership skills required of a medical officer to effectively function as part of an operational military unit.
