DER 4100 Clinical Dermatology
Allow students to participate in the care and management of outpatient and inpatient dermatology patients through direct contact with patients under staff supervision. Specific educational techniques may include didactic sessions, conferences led by staff and senior residents, lab demonstrations, audiovisual material, histopathology review, slide presentations, assisting in dermatologic surgery, and case presentations. Some teaching centers will offer additional specialized opportunities such as Mohs surgical procedures, consultant visits, city-wide Grand Rounds, and clinical research. Objective: Clerkship is designed to teach fundamental principles of pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of skin diseases; and provide exposure to procedural dermatology.
