FAM 3200 Family Medicine Clerkship

Designed to provide students with a solid background in the principles and practice of family medicine, students are exposed to a model of comprehensive, compassionate and personal healthcare where the physician’s continuing responsibility is limited neither by a patient’s age or sex nor by a particular organ system or disease entity. Importance of the family unit and the community context are emphasized. The predominant focus of the rotation is on ambulatory family medicine, with students having direct contact with patients and providing primary care under the supervision of faculty family physicians and senior residents. Students are also exposed to primary care sports medicine, inpatient family medicine care, family-centered maternity care and other on-call experiences.
