FLH 228 Medical Readiness Training

As part of the military unique curriculum, this multifaceted course provides the resident with current information on military officership, combat readiness, and wartime medical skills. The course includes didactic instruction in leadership and wartime operations; laboratory and clinical instruction in airway management, suture skills, and venipuncture techniques; familiarization with operating room protocol with emphasis on sterile technique as well as operations in contaminated environments; and, hands-on field experience through a one day Medical Readiness Training exercise which provides training in wound management, patient triage, mass casualty scenarios, nuclear/biological/chemical environments, patient transport, orienteering, and other combat skills.
