GSO 3200 Gynecologic Surgery & Obstetrics Clerkship
Designed to fulfill the objective of providing students with the core knowledge and skills required to address the healthcare needs of women in a variety of settings. Students participate as members of the healthcare team on both inpatient and outpatient services, including labor and delivery, the operating room, and the ambulatory clinic. Students are exposed to a breadth of obstetrical and gynecological encounters, with ample opportunity at all sites to evaluate patients, develop management plans, and hone communication skills. Various learning approaches assure exposure to the knowledge and principles of this specialty. On-site clerkship coordinators are responsible for assessments of student performance. The on-site coordinators, clerkship director, and department chairperson are also available for career counseling to students interested in professional opportunities in the obstetrics and gynecology field.
