MCB 531 Introduction to Immunology

The course will cover basic and intermediate aspects of the immune response to include innate and adaptive immunity. Specifically, the basics of lymphocyte development and survival, antigen recognition, generation of humoral and cell mediated responses, their roles in pathogen responses, followed by coverage of the failure of the immune response and clinical disease, examples of inappropriate immune responses (autoimmunity) and therapeutic manipulation of the immune response
