NSO 520 Molecular Basis of Nervous System Function

The focus of this course is literature-based analysis of primary data related to the molecular mechanisms underlying nervous system function. The material will include instructor-led discussions with student participation in critical analysis of selected research publications. A progression of topics will be addressed, including effects of genetic alterations, regulation of gene expression, post-translational modifications, and molecular interactions in cellular responses. The developing nervous system will be used as the context for this topic progression.
