RBB 602 Endodontics 2

This course is designed to increase the resident’s competence in non-surgical and surgical endodontic therapy. Residents will learn current concepts in instrumentation, obturation, and diagnostic imaging during didactic sessions. Clinical sessions will enhance the resident’s ability to competently diagnose and manage pulpal disease of varying levels of severity, evaluate the results of endodontic treatment, and manage post-surgical complications. Residents also gain knowledge in basic biologic principles of root canal therapy, management of endodontic emergencies, dental trauma, local anesthesia, and root-end surgery. In addition to the objectives of the first year, second year residents participate in formal literature (classic and current) review seminars which are discussion-type sessions that augment the lecture topics from the first year. Second year residents continue to refine their treatment skills and professional judgment.
