MED 3108 Nephrology Selective
The nephrology selective occurs over four weeks, exposing students to a broad range of renal pathologies. The rotation exposes students to the specialty in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Students will encounter patients with acute kidney diseases, including nephrotic and nephritic syndromes, and patients with chronic and end-stage kidney diseases. Students will become familiar with dialysis for acute and chronic illnesses during the four weeks. Students will become familiar with renal ultrasound and may have the opportunity to observe renal biopsy. Students will present a renal disease topic of their choice to the staff at the end of the rotation.
