FLC 216 Forensic Dentistry

The forensic dentistry portion of the residency program consists of a three-day combined didactic and laboratory course.  Lecture topics include introduction to the forensic sciences, postmortem dental examination, antemortem dental record reconstruction, special investigations, history of military involvement in mass disasters, overview of the port mortuary, expert legal testimony, human bitemark analysis, and anthropology.  The laboratory exercises include human bitemark analysis, radiographic matching and documentation exercises, and a mass disaster exercise in which the residents work in teams to use dental analysis to identify the victims.
