PMO 1009 Domestic Disaster Management and Response
This course provides an overview of how the federal government responds to domestic disasters with a primary focus on the management of the public health and medical aspects. Subject matter experts from across the federal government will describe the complexity of disaster medicine and public health emergency response. Students will have the opportunity to examine examples of coordinated and multidisciplinary responses from local, state, and federal agencies. Students will also gain insight into Defense Support of Civil Authorities during domestic emergencies. At the end of the course, students will select a domestic disaster-relevant topic, write a brief research paper applying the frameworks and concepts covered, and present the research with an interactive component for their fellow students.
