PMR 4215 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
The PM&R advanced clerkship elective provides MS4s ample opportunity to further hone their Neurologic and Musculoskeletal assessment skills. Students interested in applying for a PM&R residency should complete the PMR 3100 as MS3s followed by the PMR 4214 as an MS4. By rotating in the outpatient PM&R clinic and the inpatient consult service, students will gain further knowledge and competency in 1) the performance of the physiatric history and physical as well as 2) the use of the physiatric assessment in developing management plans to help restore patients to an optimal level of functional independence following injuries to the muscles, bones, tissues, and nervous system.
Students will be expected to participate in all educational opportunities which include daily morning didactics, journal club, weekly staff and resident lectures, bedside teaching rounds, and conferences. Auditioning students are expected to present a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation on a topic of their choice to the PMR Service.
