PMO 1041 Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Health Informatics
In this course, students learn about the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in healthcare informatics, with a focus on applications that enhance healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, and streamline operational efficiency. Topics include the integration of AI/ML technologies with Electronic Health Records (EHRs), predictive analytics for clinical decision support, analytical imaging technologies for patient diagnostics, natural language processing for unstructured data, and automation in healthcare workflows. Special emphasis is placed on the unique challenges and opportunities within the Military Healthcare System (MHS), including ethical considerations, laws, and policies governing the use of AI/ML in healthcare. Students will also explore methods for designing, implementing, and evaluating AI/ML tools for health promotion, disease prevention, and readiness tracking.
