DNTA 2303 Essential Skills for Dental Assisting
This course provides a comprehensive foundation in dental imaging and essential dental office procedures. Students will learn basic facts and terminology related to dental imaging, including the preparation, exposure, and mounting of images. Hands-on training will focus on mastering the paralleling technique to capture posterior, anterior, periapical, and horizontal/vertical bitewing images, as well as completing and mounting a full mouth series. The course also covers the critical administrative aspects of a dental practice, including the initiation, filing, and review of dental health records, and performing accurate dental charting. Students will gain proficiency in reviewing patient data and making entries on treatment forms and learn to effectively schedule patient appointments. Finally, the course will prepare students to assist in dental examinations and provide a thorough review of material relevant to the Radiology portion of the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Exam.
