NURS 8820 Academe: The Roles of Faculty in Higher Education
This course familiarizes students with the roles and responsibilities of doctoral faculty in higher education, emphasizing the four pillars of nursing academe: Scholarship of Discovery, Scholarship of Integration, Scholarship of Application and Scholarship of Teaching. The course includes theories and principles of teaching and learning, teaching and assessment strategies, classroom management strategies and topics such as curriculum design and evaluation, educational technology, and advising. The faculty role is compared among public, private, and religious institutions of higher learning. The course will introduce students to the areas of achievement and productivity expected of faculty seeking academic positions and promotion and tenure in higher education.
