DLBT 3203 Advanced Mold Design and Laboratory Processing
This advanced course provides an in-depth exploration of the engineering principles and laboratory techniques required to design and fabricate complex mold systems for extraoral prostheses. Students will analyze anatomical sculptures to identify severe undercuts and determine optimal paths of withdrawal. Practical emphasis is placed on fabricating high-strength gypsum stone molds and advanced, multi-sectional (three- or four-piece) mold configurations necessary for processing medical-grade silicones. Students will master flash management, strategic separator application, and preservation techniques for delicate margin lines.
