FLA 119 Oral Pathology

This course consists of didactic instruction and clinical pathology conferences. Lecture topics include biopsy techniques, mucosal pathology, soft tissue pathology, oral cancer, developmental non-odontogenic cysts, odontogenic cysts, odontogenic tumors, non-neoplastic salivary gland diseases, benign and malignant salivary gland tumors, pigmented and vascular lesions, oral manifestations of systemic diseases, infectious diseases, bone pathology, vesiculo-erosive diseases, syndromes of the head and neck. Pathology arising within the pediatric and adult populations is discussed throughout the course. Additionally, the residents participate in 28 clinical pathology conferences, in which the resident discusses individual cases in a verbal question-and-answer format. Clinical pathology conferences utilize a problem-oriented model to present diagnosis and treatment of various oral pathologic conditions.
