FLC 125 Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBT)

This course is designed to familiarize the students with CBCT related to use in dentistry. The training will consist of lecture and case reviews designed to familiarize participants with the basic CBCT principles for ordering, acquisition and interpretation of CBCT scans, standardized CBCT report formats and case reviews. The course offers a comprehensive review of basic CBCT interpretation of anatomic structures, pathology, indications for use in a multitude of dental disciplines, benefits, risks, interpretation, and report writing. Participants are exposed to a variety of CBCT findings. Concepts for reviewing CBCT and writing a dento-alveolar interpretive report are introduced. The objectives for student learning will be the ability to review a CBCT region of interest in small and medium fields of view, as well as effective communication with oral and maxillofacial radiologists. CBCT cases are presented with opportunity for discussion.
