NSO 905 Neurochemistry

This graduate level course will develop foundational knowledge for a mechanistic understanding of nervous system function as applies to development, adult homeostasis, and disease states. Course objectives: 1. Develop knowledge that integrates biochemical, cellular, and physiological aspects of neurobiological mechanisms. 2. Examine how these neurobiological mechanisms regulate nervous system functions. 3. Develop critical thinking of the data and approaches that identified the biochemical, cellular and physiological components of the current models for major mechanisms. 3. Apply the basic principles of these mechanisms to interpret the medical implications of dysregulation or disruption to nervous system functions.
