PHO 516 Neuropharmacology

This course is designed to give students a fundamental understanding of the functional, biochemical and structural systems for normal central nervous systems (CNS) function, as well as the effects of drugs on brain neurotransmitter systems, synaptic transmission and neural systems on which they act to control human behavior.  The course will also discuss pathophysiology of specific neurological and psychiatric diseases and their treatment using the techniques that provide the means to develop appropriate drugs to correct pathophysiological processes in the development of abnormal CNS function and behavior.
