RGE 3257 Minimal & Moderate Sedation Course II

The sedation course is designed to meet all of the requirements necessary for the residents to be properly trained and credentialed in both inhalation and minimal sedation techniques. The course provides the Periodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents to be properly trained in combination inhalation and enteral minimal sedation in addition to instruction in moderate sedation. The course includes basic didactic training in: respiratory anatomy, autonomic and respiratory physiology, patient assessment, pharmacology, pain management and local anesthesia, and medical emergency management. The course follows the guidelines set forth by the American Dental Association and prepares residents to complete the required cases under supervision. Each second year endodontic resident presents a 50 minute lecture on an assigned topic that meets the objectives of the ADA.
