RGE 8004 Oral Biology IV

The course is composed of two blocks. This course includes lecture series on the basic principles of disease, relevant morphological and biochemical features and the underlying mechanism at the cellular, subcellular and molecular level. The course is composed of three blocks: I. Molecular Pathology; II. Mechanisms in Normal and Abnormal Cell Proliferation; III. Normal and Abnormal Craniofacial Development. Specific topics include advanced concepts of disease at the cellular and subcellular level, to include principles and basic mechanisms of cell injury, inflammation, signal transduction, carcinogenesis, oncogenes and neoplasia. Concepts of craniofacial development are discussed from genetic and embryological perspectives. An overview of current corrective measures, potential genetic therapies and ethical considerations also are addressed.
