FLA 112 Endodontics 1
The endodontic portion of the 2-year residency program consists of didactic and clinical instruction in basic biologic principles of root canal therapy. In this course, Junior residents receive lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions (to introduce and refine clinical techniques). Following the initial section of academic courses, the residents have weekly clinic sessions dedicated to endodontics. They also manage daytime and after-hours endodontic emergencies. Junior residents are exposed to a mock oral exam where one of eight portions (25-min each) of the exam is dedicated to the specialty of endodontics. Junior residents also participate in two formal case presentation sessions, where students defend and justify all aspects of their clinical treatment decisions and procedures for cases.
