Overview
The Public Health program provides education and training in the major disciplines of preventive medicine operations to include: introduction to public health, public health communication, food service sanitation, aspects of water, deployment environmental surveillance program (DESP), medical threats, operational preventive medicine, and entomology. Army specific courses include: chemical biological radiation nuclear event, industrial hygiene, and an Army field exercise. Navy specific courses include: public health administration, microbiology, biostatistics, epidemiology, medical parasitology, immunizations programs and vaccines, occupational safety and health, environmental sanitation, shipboard preventive medicine, and a Navy field exercise. This program provides graduates with technical skills and knowledge required to achieve public health specialist entry-level competencies. The program prepares the student to perform preventive medicine operations in both traditional and non-traditional preventive medicine practice settings.

Credentialing Information: Graduates of the Public Health program are certified with the following credentials: ServSafe through the National Restaurant Association http://www.servsafe.com, the DoD Pesticide Application through the Armed Forces Pest Management Board http://www.afpmb.org/, Basic Industrial Hygiene through the Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE), and Shipboard Sanitation through Navy Medicine (Navy specific).
