NSO 509 Neuroscience Journal Club Presentation

The Neuroscience Journal Club will provide an opportunity for graduate students to discuss primary scientific literature related to the field of neuroscience. These sessions will be designed to not only expand the breadth of knowledge of the participants, but to also promote critical thinking and provide an informal forum for the development of skills necessary for the successful oral communication of research data. The Neuroscience Journal Club is open to all members of the academic community; however, the primary focus is to meet the training needs for Neuroscience graduate students. Attendance is mandatory for all Neuroscience graduate students and students must present at least once per year. The journal club presentation course will be offered during the Spring quarters, and will be taken as a graded course. Grade is determined by attendance of the journal club meetings, participation in discussion, and quality of the presentation. Journal articles for presentation will be at the discretion of the presenter. Journal club will be held once every other week for one hour. The organization and administration of the Neuroscience Journal Club will be the responsibility of a single faculty member who will serve as the course director.
