SURI 3315 Emergency Medicine I
This course is designed to teach the management and clinical care of dive related injuries and the treatment of trauma patients in accordance with emergency medicine guidelines. Topics include decompression sickness, triage during a mass casualty incident, and analysis of scene safety, scene situation and kinematics into the assessment of a trauma patient. Other related topics include the physiological characteristics of combat injuries, primary and secondary survey on a patient, chest tube insertion, needle thoracentesis, and surgical cricothyrotomy.
