COMR 850 Research Methodology/Biostatistics/Project/Manuscript
This course is continuous. Residents receive training and gain experience in critically analyzing dental literature. They learn to prepare research protocols, collect data in the laboratory or clinic, analyze the data, and prepare an abstract. Each resident must complete an original research project. A written protocol will be submitted for institutional review. Pending approval, the proposal will be submitted for IRB review. After receiving final approval, the resident will execute the study, collect, and analyze the data. Residents also prepare a table clinic suitable for presentation at a major dental meeting and write a research manuscript suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed dental journal.
