PMO 990 Travel Medicine
This clinically-oriented lecture course explores the practice of travel medicine, both from the perspective of the leisure traveler and the military unit. The course consists of lectures and practical exercises that highlight the key elements of travel medicine, to include immunizations, chemoprophylaxis, self-treatment for common travel-related conditions, personal preventive measures, and prevention of disease in high risk travelers. Students will be introduced to multiple resources that can aid in the practice of travel medicine and will become familiar with guidelines published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other reputable sources.
