SURI 3116 Maritime Health Services Practicum III
This course requires the practical application of lessons learned over the entire course of instruction. This is an intensive 40-hour practicum delivered under hyper-realistic conditions. Students are given administrative scenarios commonly encountered in the maritime environment such as general administration, medical department administration, healthcare, logistics, training, pest control, sanitation, occupational health, and preventive medicine. Students are also required to assess, diagnose, and formulate treatment plans for patient scenarios using simulated crew members provided to them by their preceptors. Students must successfully complete this enhanced maritime health services department simulation training program at the end of the course.
