OTA 1201 Introduction to Occupational Therapy

This course provides in-depth instruction into the broad overview of the profession of Occupational Therapy (OT) to include both civilian and military practice settings. Instruction materials include foundational concepts of occupational therapy, development of the profession, delivery of healthcare to include areas such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, and interrelated therapies (i.e., speech pathology, physical therapy, etc.) to demonstrate team dynamics and inter/multidisciplinary care models. Content addresses professionalism, ethics, values, and responsibilities. Students will also learn and practice fundamentals of client-centered care in accordance with the professions practice framework and domain, theories of practice, and frames of reference.
