Overview

The Health Informatics and Information Sciences (HIIS) Distance Learning Certificate Program aims to expand upon the USU mission of providing high-quality online education to military service members and civilian healthcare professionals in the Military Health System (MHS) to support the readiness of America’s Warfighters and their dependents. The mission of the HIIS Program is to equip MHS/DoD personnel, including military and civilians civilian professionals (contractors are excluded), with the knowledge and skills to manage and utilize health information technology, health information sciences, health information systems as well as artificial intelligence in healthcare and data and visual analytics for efficient healthcare delivery in the MHS and beyond. This program commits to providing high-quality education, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and addressing the needs of internal and external stakeholders in the MHS. This Program is under the purview of the Health Policy and Management (HPM) Division of the Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics Department. The expected time for completion will range from 12 months (fast track) to up to 36 months (flexible track). All (Military/Civilian) employees, students or faculty with usuhs.edu and canvas accounts from the School of Medicine (SOM) or the Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) may be enrolled in this program. These professionals could be physicians, dentists, nurses, or have other relevant credentials. They also must have at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
