FKA 109 Oral Diagnosis/Treatment Planning

The primary course objective is to enable the resident to comprehensively diagnose and plan treatment for complex cases that fall within the realm of general dentistry in order to support provision of care that optimizes function, comfort and esthetics. Lectures are employed to introduce a template for comprehensive diagnosis spanning all dental specialty areas and a second template for the development of a phased treatment plan addressing all findings. Ethical decision making and conduct are addressed in lectures and seminars on topical case studies. Monthly seminars are held to reemphasize lecture information in a group discussion setting. Each resident presents and discusses in detail a review of findings, phasing of treatment, and progress in the treatment of their assigned multidisciplinary cases.
