PSY 3103 Addiction Selective

Students participate in teaching rounds, conferences, lectures/seminars under the supervision of FBCH/WRNMMC Psychiatry faculty in the evaluation and management of adult patients with Substance Use Disorders.

Goals and Objectives:

1. Perform at least two comprehensive psychiatric assessments of patients with substance use disorders, and submit a BRIEF but comprehensive written report (to include a defensible formulation, differential diagnosis, and treatment plan) in conjunction with an oral presentation of each to the program attending, followed by review of each report by the program attending
2. Demonstrate understanding of diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders as part of a complete differential diagnosis

3. Develop an understanding of the multidisciplinary approach to patient assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, and disposition planning
4. Learn common treatment modalities for substance use disorders

This rotation allows 1 (one) student/rotation, with some rotations not being available.
