FLB 124 Research I
Residents have independent study time allotted and are supervised by assigned faculty members. Approximately 57 hours are allotted each of the four semesters during the program for preparation of a research protocol, completion of a scientific research project, and preparation of abstract and paper for publication in a refereed dental journal. The student may elect to design a project in an area of personal interest, or consult with the faculty for possible research project recommendations. The Clinical Research Squadron at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center and the Dental Evaluation and Consultation Services consists of facilities and research personnel able to provide limited assistance to orthodontic resident investigators. An understanding of the methods of scientific research, along with the evidence based abilities to critically analyze the published data and conclusions of other investigators, are important goals of this program.
