PMO 1033 Accreditation for Health Systems Leaders and Executives
This seminar has been designed to acquaint the health care professional with policy-makers, legislators and health care payers growing interest in the value of organizational accreditation. It will highlight the need to understand the escalating importance of utilizing an accreditation tool to assess accountability, to create an environment for positive performance improvement and to respond to the community's demand for optimal health. The seminar will correlate the evolving changes generated by health care reform, technology, medical advances, and effects of a disjointed information system on the application of accreditation standards. A historical review of the successes and shortcomings of past and present accreditation programs provides a backdrop on how accreditation and organizational assessment, as subsets of the healthcare industry, have evolved. More recent active interest on the part of legislators at the local, state and federal level and foundations are championing the accreditation as an accountability tool. Also highlighted in this seminar will be discussions on the role competitive marketplace forces have on driving performance assessment and improvement. It will dissect the congruency or conflict between the goals of regulators versus those of voluntary accreditation groups.
