Radiation Health Technician, A.S.H.S.

Overview

The Radiation Health Technician Program trains sailors in the knowledge and skills required to perform duties of radiation monitoring, radiation surveys, thermoluminescent dosimetry, radiation administration, radiation medical examination preparation, decontamination and risk communication. Additionally, students are taught how to operate radiation equipment, and conduct personnel orientation relative to radiation hazards and associated risk and hazards. The program includes mathematics; radiation health administration; radiation fundamentals; computerized exposure record systems; medical effects of ionizing radiation; radiation physics; and radiobiology.
