GSO 4340 Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (Urogyn)
Students will be part of the UROGYN team made up of uro-gynecologists and GSO residents (and fellows). They will participate in the outpatient and inpatient care of patients with pelvic floor disorders such as uterovaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence, and voiding dysfunction. Students will assist with diagnostic procedures, medical treatment, pre- operative and post-operative care of surgically managed patients. Students will participate in other educational opportunities including morning reports, departmental conferences, and specialized uro-gynecology conferences. Students will attend and, when appropriate, scrub on operative cases. By the conclusion of the rotation the student should be able to: List and describe the main types of urinary incontinence (SUI, UUI, mixed UI) and basic management of each type. Describe severity of pelvic organ prolapse. List major risk factors for urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

Prerequisite
Students should have successfully passed the GSO core clerkship (GSO3200) prior to enrolling in this course. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis at the discretion of the GSO education committee.
