GSO 4380 Advocacy Excellence: Empowering Scholars to Identify, Research, & Champion Their Causes Effectively

This four-week course was designed to provide medical students with a platform where they can sharpen their advocacy skills within the area of reproductive health.  We aim to enhance students’ ability to advocate for reproductive health issues within and outside of the Military Health System.  The course is divided into two distinct components: two weeks dedicated to advocacy training and two weeks dedicated to advocacy project development and implementation.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the various forms of advocacy in reproductive healthcare.
  2. Identify a clear and passionate focus area within reproductive healthcare, supported by personal values and interests.
  3. Construct a persuasive memo or resolution that effectively communicates a critical need within the community or healthcare system.
  4. Analyze relevant data to substantiate the identified need in reproductive healthcare.
  5. Justify identified needs through compelling verbal and visual communication formats, engaging and effectively mobilizing the target audience for advocacy purposes.
