PED 4665 Forward Operating Pediatrics
This rotation is a mixed Pediatric inpatient and outpatient experience in an overseas military treatment facility. It exposes you to some of the areas you experienced in your clerkship, but in the constrained environment with regard to resources and available sub-specialist care. This is a great month to brush up on those Pediatric skills that you may need in the deployed or emergency room environment, as well as understand the challenges faced when interacting with health systems outside of the US. Coordinate with the site regarding your specific care area if available. Yokosuka, Japan – Primarily outpatient and newborn patients w/ some basic inpatients; Okinawa, Japan – Primarily newborn and NICU patients; Landstuhl, Germany - Primarily outpatient and newborn patients w/ basic inpatients, and has a NICU.
