DLBT 3208 Advanced Maxillofacial Reconstructive Prosthodontics

This advanced course covers the specialized laboratory fabrication of prosthetic appliances designed to restore speech, swallowing, and mastication for patients with extensive intraoral resections. Students will master the biomechanical principles required to design and fabricate definitive maxillary obturators that successfully seal palatal defects. Additionally, the course covers the complex engineering of hemimandibulectomy complete dentures, focusing on managing altered mandibular swing patterns, balancing atypical occlusal schemes, and optimizing tissue support to stabilize the prosthesis on a compromised dental arch.
