PSY 3104 Outpatient Psychiatry Selective
The course allows students to explore their interest in Adult Outpatient Psychiatry. Students will gain experience in obtaining a history, developing differential diagnoses, formulating treatment plans, and participating in outpatient follow-up appointments. Students will also attend and participate in multidisciplinary conferences and lectures under the supervision of WRNMMC/FBCH residents and faculty.
Goals and Objectives:
- Understand common behavioral disorders and concerns of outpatients who present for triage, intake, and follow-up behavioral health clinic encounters;
- Develop, under supervision, appropriate treatment approaches for outpatients who present for triage, intake, and follow-up behavioral health clinic encounters;
- Submit at least two written BRIEF but comprehensive Psychiatric assessments (to include a defensible formulation, differential diagnosis, and treatment plan) in conjunction with an oral presentation of each to the program attending, followed by a review of each report by the program attending.
Prep: Successful completion of the Clerkship-level rotation
