Overview
The Associate of Science in Respiratory Care program provides three distinct tracks tailored for military personnel: Army, Navy, and Air Force. This comprehensive program equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to excel as entry-level respiratory therapists in diverse medical environments, including both fixed and deployable medical facilities. Students will gain proficiency in delivering a wide range of therapeutic interventions, encompassing both advanced technological procedures and compassionate, patient-centered care, for individuals in acute and chronic care settings. The program emphasizes hands-on learning and practical application. Competencies are rigorously assessed through a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory simulations, and direct clinical performance evaluations in real and simulated patient care scenarios. The program features a structured two-phase approach. Initial resident training takes place at the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC), providing a strong foundational understanding. Following this, students transition to extensive clinical training conducted at various military and/or civilian medical treatment facilities (MTFs), allowing for practical application of learned skills in diverse healthcare environments. Graduates of this program will emerge as skilled allied health professionals, prepared to provide vital respiratory care services and contribute significantly to patient well-being across a spectrum of healthcare settings. Graduates are expected to demonstrate competency in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains in respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapist.
