NURS 5122 Advanced Pharmacology
This graduate-level pharmacology course builds on the knowledge students acquired in the undergraduate curriculum and through their experiences with medications at the bedside. The course prepares students to safely administer pharmacologic agents in their advanced practice nursing roles. Topics include pharmacologic management across the care continuum, polypharmacy, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics and biochemical pathways. There is a strong emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention. Students are asked to integrate pharmacological principles with legal and ethical guidelines to plan effective, safe pharmacotherapy for individuals with acute and chronic conditions in various clinical, operational, and humanitarian environments.
